Oh bugger ! Broken head casting!

Hi all,

Just removed my two exhaust manifolds on my 2.8 engine proir to overhaul and the casting that the manifold bolts to snapped clean off.

Question:

Does anybody have a 2.8 head for sale ??????

I can travel to collect

Not sure what you mean - do you mean the threaded stud?

Its the surface that the manifold bolts to , the head casting has corroded so badly it snapped a huge chunk between the two exhaust ports ,I have never seen that happen before , it makes a snapped stud seem like a pleasure to deal with ! a new head needed !

Give Track V Road of Clitheroe a bell. One of the Tasmin racers has just swapped his 2.8i engine for a more powerfull one so there may be a couple of heads there.

Pair of "race" heads might be nice but probably not cheap ?

Complete engine on Ebay for £50 ! of course may be other end of country and you may not have anything suitable to collect it in. These engines are HEAVY, I bought a 2.9 and blokes forklift wouldn't start, we really struggled to get it in my estate.

Took 3 of us to lift the one into back of my Mondeo (Norm, me and Norm's mate in Brum) and me my 16 year old son and next door neighbour at home and both ends were just over lip of boot into and out of a wheel barrow Oh and this was just the block as the heads were already off!!!!

It's not just weight but also how to get a good grip

I have found a whole lump on eBay , its not too far away . I know what you mean about the weight , it took two of us to lift the thing into a mates van , we slid it up a plank though , I suppose not all is lost as I will have an engines worth of spares !

Thant was my thought when I bought Norms, all I really wanted was a sump to replace my dented one. Now set to work cleaning replacement engine and changing bits as I go - more work
