Sluggish starter

Hi All,

My S3 clearly knows it's having an MOT this morning. Everything has been working fine until home time last night when it nearly didn't start. The engine turned over really slowly as if it had a flat battery but then suddenly got faster and burst into life. Then this morning same thing. I have left it at the MOT station. I just hope it starts when they come to test it.

Anyway, I don't think its the battery as it sometimes turns over slowly and then sometimes quickly. I have checked all the earth straps and cleaned the battery terminals to no avail. So now I am thinking perhaps the bushes in the starter itself are worn out. Any other ideas before I pull out the starter.

Hi Ralph, I too have got electrical gremlins, before you take off the starter, clean the contacts like you`ve done at the battery, then try again. It`s easier to get in from underneath and is a bit cramped, I`ve just put mine back together after similar problems, now just have to sort out a charging problem.
