Just to add to the many opinions & recomendations regarding oil for the V6
I was always concerned at the lower oil pressure displayed using semi syntheic or sythetic oil
all my previous older cars were serviced using Duckhams Q 20-50 without problems
the Granada Scorpio Haynes Manual quotes a good quality Multigrade 10-30 to 20-50
I came across Valvoline 20-50 Racing Spec which was developed for Forumula Ford & decided to try it
oil pressure is now up to spec the engine is quieter smoother & as yet I have not seen any leaks

Mot passed yesterday no problems, very happy, until I got home & the noticed the oil pressure gauge @ 100 not between 40 & 50 the needle seems to be stuck @the top, it dosn't go down when the ignition is switched off so perhaps its an electrical problem or the gauge is knackered.

Has anyone experienced any similar fault? or any idea where I can get a new gauge, there was a chap in Blackpool with a lot of spares, I will check out the sender & the wiring from it & the earth at the week end but any ideas would be appreciated

I had a problem with ALL of the gauges reading max. Particularly brought about when using either the wipers or the indicators.
To cap it all it was an intermittent fault, so you thought that you'd fixed it only to have it happen again, time after time.
Turned out that it was down to poor earth connections on the Wiper motor and on the rear left hand light cluster. Sorted now, but it was an absolute b*****d to find. I had the dash out twice to try to sort it.

Hope yours is an easy find & fix.

Thanks I'll try the earth connections, now you mention it
the left hand indicator has done the fast flash like it does
when a bulb has blown a couple of times but next time it worked
so I'll start from there

When I started the car on Saturday all was well the oil pressure gauge was working showing the correct pressure & the flashers worked fine as well.
I was short on time so I didn't clean all the earth points but I will, I will have some spare time to check them later this month so that Job has moved to the top of my to do list
Any further developments I'll let you know

It didn't last the electrical gremlins are back nearside front flasher works when it pleases
offside headlamp works on main beam,& sometimes the oil pressure gauge works.
I don't have the notorious yellow connector its been removed by a previous owner
I have cleaned and re-connected the multi-connectors to the lights they appear to be the main problem the lights work if you squeeze the connector on one side, squeeze it on the other side and the flashers work so its time to replace the connectors, they appear to be disintegrating
I recall a post some time ago when someone replaced these with a waterproof/weather resistant multi connector, I can't find it, or a replacement connector through the useful links, can anyone recall the post or the source of a suitable multi connector replacement.
My alternative would be to hard wire it by soldering the wires for the summer & leave it as a winter job but I would prefer just to do it once
any ideas or info welcome

Ian, I replaced my connectors with Deutsch connectors, you can buy all the bits from RS Components but there are 6 different parts you need to buy to make one connctor, and you need a crimping tool. I was working for the RNLI at the time and they use them so had a ~£200 crimping tool I used.

I'm sure there are cheaper and easier waterproof connectors out there but apparently Deutsch are the best.

ETA, I replaced the 2 pin (indicator, earth) and 5 pin connector (side, low, high, earth, and a pin that was used to join two earths) with a 5 pin (side, low, high, indicator, earth).

Thanks guys I've ordered the connectors
mine look just like your before photos, exposed to all the crap
from the road, I'll see if I can reposition the Connectors
to be out of the weather as far as possible.
As usual Great Web Site Excellent info on Parts & Problems
Related to The S series
Thanks Again
