New sump

Hello Chaps

My 91 S3 is currently minus it's engine...we are trying to source a replacement sump as the old one is holed and...alas cracked...beyond a weld repair. Unfortunately, these sumps are no longer manufactured...short of buying a complete engine has anyone any ideas..??

Not sure if this is the best route to follow ~ a new ( second hand) engine comes with loads of other spares ( and a storage problem!)

Hopefully, problem solved...ebay came to my rescue...I won a 2.9 granada engine which I'm picking up today. The seller assures me it was a runner and the sump is intact.

Anybody interested in the engine minus it's sump let me know...

I went down same route to replace my dented sump, lots of spares and also time to do the bling thing to items such as rocker covers without taking the car off the road.

Yup..a good plan Mark..the bling thing...

I picked up my S from Hitech at Cradley Heath today after the sump was replaced...new crank oil seals and new engine mounts.
I used the 50mm landrover mounts which were also shimmed giving at least 3cms clearance from the anti roll bar.
It drives much much smoother... no rattles or clunks...and guess what...no oil drips!!

Coming on top of repatriation costs from Spain due to volcano...I'm feelin a bit..er..not flush.. ;o)
