What are you doing with the ones you dont want?
Good question !Plan is to keep 8 spokes as my "Winter wheels" ,but do have another set spare with no tyres, not brilliant but no doubt could be tidied up, don't want to turn this into an ad. but can sort some photo's if anyone interested ?
The slots aren't too bad either but have been painted, they've got to go.
As for the Chim wheels, they look a little "lost" in the photo but think thats coz car had just been jacked up and tyres are lower profile. Chimaeras are fitted with 15" front and 16" rears, this makes tyre selection a little difficult if, like me, you like same brand on all four corners. So i bought a spare set for mine with the intention of maybe using 16's all round when time comes to replace tyres.
Mike, you have more sets of wheels stacked up than me (mine are all for different vehicles).
On the tyre front, are they Toyo CF1's? If so I have been running them for a couple of years and once I got the release agent off of them they have been a nice tyre in all weathers on the S. Regards wheels, the mini-lites look nice but this is one area where I like the original fit. Fair play though, I could never be called a purist (my B and S are testaments to that), find what you like and stick with it.
Lookin good (if not for me)
Carl.
ETA. Before one of you picks me up on it. I didn't mean my BS
. I mean my MGB and TVR S

Mike, so that's what you went back inside the Kit Car show for on Sunday then? Got to admit that the Minilites look pretty good.
Did you buy anything else interesting?
Norman, who do you know around these parts who polishes alloy wheels? I am interested in getting my 8 spokes done if the price is half decent.

As a matter of interest what make are the Minilite replicas ?
They are made by JBW (John Brown Wheels), bought from www.midlandwheels.com at the Kit Car Show last weekend, group of us in various Tivs blagged our way in as kit cars, even a Sag ! ( personnaly would rather have paid entry than have anyone think my £40k car was a kit car ! )£300 the set (special show price) compared that to £50 + per wheel for professional refurb and didn't seem a bad deal to me. Plus much as I do like the 8 spokes (one reason I bought the car) has anyone found a company that can get them back to "original" look, i.e. not laquered, painted, powder coated or "over polished" ?
Ride height probably looks bit high coz suspension hadn't settled after jacking up to fit them, cars on Avo's, set as low as poss. but personnally think TVR messed up bit with design, back wheels in particular do look "lost in their arches. was fitted with 55 profile Bridgestones when I bought it, they looked even worse !

No Mike they all seem to want to paint them etc. Can see your logic in buying the new set. A little bit bigger and I might go for them.
Bigger ? Diameter or width ?Saw these at show on Sunday, umm'd and ahh'd went home and checked measurements and tyre availability, was thinking of 8" on rear but all tyres wide enough were too low profile so popped back Monday got set of 7"
I'd say diameter Mike.
Here's a pic of mine which I believe sits a bit higher than most of the S cars I've seen.

Do you reckon just a bit of height adjustment is in order to make the wheel fit the arch ?
Mine has not been jacked up wheel change etc fitted with AVO's as well

I think there is a company Tyburn Road Erdington,
www.lap-tab.co.ukJust round the corner from where I work, popped in a while back to enquire, all they seemed interested in was powder coating then, but a look at their web site does mention polishing ?
Want to pop round for a look at the slots Norman ?

Reckon mine sits about the same, shocks as low as poss. and even if they could go any lower it would put exhaust far too low !Mine has not been jacked up wheel change etc fitted with AVO's as well
Will have to do some looking/measureing at SCH

Yes,they are not sure where "proxi" comes from but seems to be the common reference over on the Chim Forum.Like the fact they're "asymetric" ?? basically they have to go on wheel right way round (inside/outside) but are not directional so can go on any corner, handy if you want to swap things around a bit to try and sort a bit of wheel viabration or whatever.
