People
Can any one help me out, I have just started my S2 to find out the clutch slave rod is stuck out, and hence can not get any drive.
After investigations, the Slave cylinder seems to be knackered, so I have order a new one for a pricey £65.
The problem I have is I need to replace the clutch pipe as well. The local motorfactor shop has told me it should not be copper like the one I have removed, but a nylon pipe, and tried to flog me one for £30.
Is this correct, and is the price about right, as these prices seems a rip off to me !!!!!!
Many thanks

Mine's copper too!

Just about to fit a new clutch master cylinder. Supposed to be a relatively straight forward job, but have heard that not so much the pipe, but the pipe fitting at the end can be a different size. An imperial/metric thing I believe. Soon find out!

Should be copper ... but I would go for stainless braded and have no more trouble ever again ...

There are many places that will make these up to order. For the Griffith I used Tower View, I'm sure if you chat to Mark there he'll give you a hand.

£65.00 for a replacment clutch slave is about right
and the connectors may be metric now,
one thing to watch out for is that the original may have been modified slighlty
so when you take it out check carefully,
i bought a new one to replace to replace the old unit and couldn't fit it past the bell housing when i had a closer inspection of the old one it had been ground off to make fit ,so in the end i got the old one refurbished and it now works a treat

Fitted a new slave cylinder before Xmas it was a Lockheed LL37528 and cost £31.56p (inc. vat) so sounds like you're man is not the cheapest. I would also guess that with the old pipe as a pattern most motor factors should be able to make one up on the spot for less than £30. Chris P.

Mine's copper too and I had to get a new one last year. I spent some time trying to find one or get one made but it appears that the unions and the pipe itself are not usually available. In the end I called Automec they had it available straight away. I think they have it listed as the same the Tasmin 280. I spoke to them over the phone, and told the the dimensions of the unions and they identified it straight away. Unfotunately I can't seem to lay my hands on the invoice so I don't have the part number.
