please help

Hi, I am due to fit the Chim seats into the car tomorrow, anyone got any advice as to how to hold the bolt still from above? The channel it sits in is too narrow to fit in a spanner or socket

I changed the bolts for cap screws for use with an allen keys, makes life much easier.

Great idea, can these be picked up at most diy shops?

Any hardware stores or ebay, I think they are M8.

Ebay 290339058556, I used the stanless steel ones. Some may say they they should be hardened steel but I think they will still be stronger than the fiberglass the are fixed through. Check the diameter of the bolts though.

If you are trying to remove the seats you should be able to jam a screwdriver between the rail and a flat face of the bolt head. This will stop it moving around as you turn the nut.
Alternatively tightly grip the end of the protruding bolt with a pair of mole grips, although you run the risk of knacking the thread.

When refitting I put the bolt through the rail and then put on a nut to hold the bolt in the rail, then a penny washer , through the floor, another washer and a nyloc.

Steve, when I fitted chimmy seats to mine, the rails had a large spacer bolted on the front to give the seats a natural rearwards tilt. this lifted the front of the seat under my legs, I took off the large spacer and found the seat more to my liking, very comfy and firm.

Hi Steve,

Two other ways people have done:

1) Put bolts through seat rails and buy 8 nuts, fasten new nuts to bolts before
putting seats in car, this holds the bolts still.

2) Weld the bolts to the rails, this is what i done.
