P clips on trailing arm for handbrake cable

Has anyone bought any recently?
I tried a couple of electrical wholesalers and a fixings place, but they said they weren't really used anymore.
I bought a couple from autosparks but apart from ordering the wrong size they are also very thin - the original ones are quite heavy duty.
I'll probably stick the old scruffy ones back on to get it through the MOT, but I really want new ones, preferably without stupid delivery charges.

If you ring up they will only charge actual postage for small items eg 1st class stamp!!

Han, thanks for the very kind offer but I think it is 16mm that I need.

I get it now - I think its the mild steel ones that I need - the ones I have are quite thick metal and definately not stainless (i.e. they are rusty).

They are still used Chris, leave it with me, I should be able to sort something for you, will check at work tomorrow. I take it 16mm is the outside Dia of the pipe?

Well yes - I have 13mm clips and they aren't big enough - let me check again though as it may be because I have the stainless type where I need the mild steel ones as they are stronger.
They support the handbrake cable Ken on the trailing arms.

They also need 8mm mounting holes - trying to drill out 6mm to 8mm with the thin clips just results in them getting eaten by the drill as they get stuck on the end of the drill bit at the moment when it breaks through then just twists into a tangled mess

Handbrake cable is only about 10mm dia.

or are you putting them round those bits of plastic tubing stuff that are on the cable (maybe there to stop it rubbing on something when fitted to a Sierra) ?

Have a few various sizes of those P clips but all with 6mm mounting hole, can have a look in suppliers catalogue tomorrow see if 8mm available if any help.

Most good bike shops sell these. They are used for attaching mudguards and carriers to bikes with no frame eyelets. Andy

Plan B : all "my" suppliers catalogues only do 6mm hole whatever size clip.

But we do have here at work some flexible s/s strip about 19mm wide if you fancy having a go at making some ?

ETA this is a coil bracket I made with some, the original (zinc plated)one started to tarnish within days of fitting.

I have gritblasted and painted the original clips for now. They were marked up as 15mm and the hole part is double metal thickness mild steel not stainless.

Maybe got the wrong end of the stick here but don't think anyone was suggesting they should be stainless original fitment but that it would be an improvement over the original zinc plated items that will no doubt tarnish, corrode and rust in no time ? The plating on these sort of items is usually only good enough to stop them rusting while in stock (IMHO).
