Done this far too many times on old Spitfires, Alfa Spiders and Land Rovers... so why is this such a difficult task!

Seems the cable inside the rear wing is secured by some tar like substance, which means I can't pull it through or just unplug the devil!

Is this usual! Or am I just being a dafted '#*+@;'

I replaced mine a few months ago. Got a standard rubber whip aerial from the local car shop, and fitted this in no problem. I kept the original wire, fitting a TV style in-line aerial socket to it. I then cut and fitted the mating half to the new aerial. Just plugs together after assmebly. Easy.

I would not attempt to feed a new aerial lead all the way to the dash, that it just too much hard work.
