S3C Engine in an S2?
Discussion
Hi All
I'm considering installing the engine from S3C spares car in my S2. It's done 42k instead of the 96k that my S2 engine has done. I'm trying to find a wiring diagram for the EEC IV unit in the S3C (i.e it has lambda sensors not air flow meters), does any one have one or know where I can get one?
What I'm trying to decide is whether to just swap the engine only and run it with air flow meters as per the S2 set up, or go the whole hog and change to the S3C ECU and lambda sensors.
Also does anyone know how much a stripped S series chassis weighs? Trying to work out whether I need a trailer or whether I can get away with putting it on the roof rack of the car when I take it to get welded up.....
Any helpful advice would be very much appreciated!

The interior is tan or biscuit - I can send you photos if you're interested
Anyone else have any thoughts on the S3C engine into S2 thing then?
I might be interested if they were magnolia and in good nick.Anyone else have any thoughts on the S3C engine into S2 thing then?
On the engine side - the engine itself would fit straight in, and you could use all the S2 exhaust, ecu, air flow meters and control system etc.
If you want to change all the electrics (and there's no good reason, as far as I can see, why you should), you would need new exhaust manifolds with lambda sensors, new exhaust front sections (the joins are in different places). You would also need a MAP sensor, different vacuum pipe connections, and, probably, a compatible ECU (I don't know if the Ford EECIV ECU is a straight swap between cat and non-cat versions.
It all seems to me to be too much hassle for little discernible benefit.
Isn't the wiring loom an original ford loom so pretty much seperate to the rest of the car. On the V8S its a standard range rover loom, just about the only connection to the rest of the car loom is a power connection.
Personally I'd try and get the S3c electronics in the S2 - but then thats just me! I've been doing a body off for 2.5 years....
Seriously advantages are better mixture control / emissions and no airflow meters which cause a restiction in the intake and limit performance.
It all depends how much trouble you want to go to, it will be more pain for sure.
If you just change the iron I'd be careful removing the loom etc then at least you can have the option in the future or alternatively sell it for someone else to do!

I've got all the bits, I have a written off S3C that I've bought for spares to rebuild my S2! - hence the question regarding wiring diagrams and how easy it would be to swap ECUs over. It all seems to me to be too much hassle for little discernible benefit.
The S3c has less than half the miles on the clock than the S2, easy enough to swap the engine over but wondered about the ECU as I believe the catalyst cars had more torque. Both cars are currently in various states of disassembly so swapping it all over is not beyond the reals of possibility.
I'll post some pictures of the interior & seats. It may not be for a week or so as I won't be able to get to the car until then.
For those who may be interested, the interior / seats mentioned above are currently listed on Ebay. Search under TVR S Series and you will find along with some pictures. Apologies for yet another blatent plug!
Still haven't found an S3C wiring diagram....not that I've been looking that hard.
