Ok I know its probably been done a thousand times but is there any insurer thats standing out like Hagerty did or is it just a case of horses for courses now?

Classicline have quoted me £200 for 3000 miles, I presume I can do better?

Yes Chris.

I went back to Classic Line who beat last year's hagerty price by a small amount. They use Brit as the insurer.

They did pay out on my old cerbie too when I had that minor incident.

Agreed values all done etc:

I went back to classic line too and got a better deal than Hagerty! £170 for the year on 3000miles.

I use Hagerty and I pay £200 with 3000 miles per year although that is on a V6, so that price for a v8 sounds pretty good to me.
Cheers.....Tony..

I'm another Hagerty reject recently re-insured elsewhere. Crikey, there can be no more a soul-destroying task than searching for insurance. I got through about ten on my 'shortlist' of sixteen before I lost the will to live and went with ClassicLine. Around three hundred quid including one named driver, European breakdown cover, agreed value, 3000 miles p.a. including commuting. There were some others at around the same price, but I found nothing significantly cheaper for the same cover.

Can't remember my full quote now, but it was around 560 for the 3, 9k miles between them. They did breakdown the amount for each vehicle.

Lancaster insurance won't insure me due to power steering - they have a rigid list of mods - if its not on the list no insurance.

Hi Chris, give these a go http://www.rhclassicinsurance.co.uk/ , its not a V8 but got mine for @ £130 - 3000miles/year, have used them in the past before Hagerty and have always been very competitive on price, they include breakdown (i think european cover inc. as well) and have a smaller XS than Classic Line. They also do agreed values.

I'll never understand car insurance. My experience of RH went something like this:

Me - looking for insurance for my V8S.
RH - no problem sir, details?
Me - blah blah blah...
RH - does it have an alarm?
Me - yes, an alarm and an immobiliser, but they're 18 years old and not
Thatcham jobbies so assume that they don't count.
RH - not a problem sir.
Me - can I have an agreed value?
RH - not a problem sir.

He gave me a cheap quote so I asked for details, which duly arrived.
With no Thatcham approved alarm, there's no theft cover, and, would
you believe, no FIRE cover! Also wanted an official valuation for agreed
value, not just the usual set of photos. Needless to say I went elsewhere.

Can't understand that either, insurance with no theft or fire cover???? - just checked my policy and only not covered bits - terrorism exclusion and theft limitation - that is if its at home and not garaged between 10pm and 6am your not covered. They never asked about thatchams nor is it stated in policy. For the agreed values i got confirmed in a note from a TVR specialist. All in inc. legal and breakdown, inc. Mrs MnS to drive for the S and the M for £253.05, was good for me, maybe good for someone else.
They also matched other quotes even though they included legal and breakdown cover that others wanted more money for.
