Mystery paint code for my V8S !

Hi All,

Another question, I recently purchased my V8S which is pretty mint except for a mangled NS wing mirror. Just bought a new mirror from TVR Car Parts (ouch, pretty expensive !) and went to my local paint shop so they could grab the paint code from the plate under the bonnet in preperation to spray it.

They know it's an ICI code but it doesn't come up in any of their charts. They also called around and are mystified about what colour it is.

The code under the bonnet is: P422 108B

Does anyone hold official TVR records of what cars were painted in what colours ? It's a metallic grey colour, I've attached a photo from a pespective I've getting more and more used to !

I too have a charcoal grey car and have had problems matching the paint. ( My code is P422 1785)
There is a link here that lists paints but it wasn't any good for me

Based in Blackpool and have ex tvr staff working there. I believe that they may have some of the old TVR records.

They were very helpful and were able to provide a "touch up stick" for me.( haven't had time to use it yet)
The guy I spoke to was Andy.

Any good paint shop shopuld be able to call on using a spectrometer(?) to 'measure' the colour on the paint but certainly Morelli have one available in birmingham, http://www.morelli.co.uk/index.asp

Mystery solved - 1028B - Atlas Grey ! Thanks for all your help. Those guys in Blackpool knew their stuff...

Your looks like the same colour as mine, also a J reg V8S. The paint code on mine is P422-A699B. Halfords mixed upa small pot to this code but nothing like what's on the car. I'd be interested to know whether the touch up stick was a good match.

This topic could prove very useful to me as well, as the S3 is going in for the peeling laquer on the boot to be sorted next week and the passenger side mirror is in need of replacement.

Doh, was just going to say that as thats the colour of my car. However Halfrauds had it listed on their machine but it was called 'storm grey', same colour though. They did me a spray tin for about £10.

Pete. That's what Halfords gave me and as I say, nothing like what's on the car so as I'm sure you would anyway, test it first. Joe

It was a few years agao now, but mine was a perfect match. Probably the only time I have ever praised halfords! Never again though...

I made the mistake of assuming the paint on mine was original and asked Halfrauds to make up a touch up tin based on the paint code on the vin plate... (mine was SAAB Rose Quartz) guess what? its nowt like it - as my car has been resprayed at some time in its history and they were obviously not worried about a perfect match then...
