Well the time has come and I am off to Brunters tomorrow for the filming of Top Dog with the V8S. The car to be pitched against mine is a Porsche 944 Turbo or S2 Cabriolet. Should be fun and I am looking forward to it, between me and Mr Sheen we should have plenty of Photos to post over the weekend so watch out for them. We film tomorrow on the track and then in the studio next Friday so should be two fun days out, just hope the weathers good and we can have the roof down.

Dont know the full format yet, as missed the show last night but will watch it tonight as I have recorded it. I should find out when its due to be shown and I will let you guys know!

Richard you get a mention on the website, you are listed as 'Richard Rouse, Sports car enthusiast' Get you the celebrity!!!

Cheers

You should be significantly faster in a straight line than the 944s2 Cabriolet, but the 944 Turbo will be close if it is in good nick. I have driven both and don't underestimate them.

They are good round corners - so watch out. You should be ok....but a lot will depend on your skill as a driver....

Best of luck.

After Clarkson's epic with the Tamora kicking the ar5e out of the Boxter S, we are all rooting for you, and are waiting for the chorus of... "two-nil - two-nil - two-nil - two-nil..."

Good luck Mike - give Jerry a bloody nose for me, eh,what?

Thanks, I have driven both of these cars too and know they handle well, but as far as I know its not a race. Its more about which car the judges like the best on appearance, known performance figures etc...!

Just had a call and the filming has been postponed until next Thursday due to a bad weather forecast by the Met office, shame but gives me a long weekend next week.

Fame at last! Maybe now's the time to get myself an agent before all those calls start flooding in!

I didn't manage any PH plugs I'm afraid, but I did get a couple of TVR references in the Ferrari vs. Lambo episode.

The Capri had the name of a website splashed across the top of the windscreen which they taped over before filming, so you'll need to make any plugs quite subtle!

Assuming the format's the same, I wouldn't worry too much about the influence of your track time on the final outcome.

Its a new Motoring programme on the satelite Men & Motors channel comparing two cars owned by members of the public to see which is top Dog! The first episode was on TV last night if you want to watch it, there was a Noble and a Dodge Viper. Its repeated each day, either at 4pm or 9pm until next Tuesday.

Cheers

Not sure if its available on freeview, its the Men&Motors channel, check your system. I saw the first episode last night and it was a little disapointing, the format wasn't great, but most of all you didnt get to hear the cars in motion. When the cars where on the track, they dubbed over some engine noise, I will mention this as thats what TVR's are all about, the noise!!

Judging by the weather here, it looks like they made a good call!

Hi Richard,
saw you on the show last night and it looked pretty good you came accross well. We did the track shoot today and it was fun, I even did a few spins for the camera, lets see if they show the smoke on the show. I am off to Donnington Park tomorrow for the studio shoot so that should be fun. Funny thing is, my car was up against a 911 Porsche and I thought the stereotypical comments about reliability might enter the fray, but the 911 blew up on the way to the track, so I guess not then!!! They are now having another Porsche sent as a stand in tomorrow and I am sure I will be mentioning Porsche's reliability on the show....

Mr Sheen took lots of photos and he said he will post them by Monday, from what I saw there are some great pics. Definite contenders for your site Pies!
Later

Hi Mike,

A mate of mine taped the show and we watched it last night. I must admit I was quite relieved as it seemed to come out ok, and my wife thought we'd all seen the questions and had time to prepare our answers up front, which I took as a good sign. The only thing I'm still a bit pensive about is realising that they included a few general panning shots when I'd thought that they were doing singles on whoever was talking, so I'm just waiting to see a shot in one of the other shows where I'm scratching my arse or something, thinking that the camera's off me!

I see what you meant with your previous comments about the track shots being a bit tame - they did just look like they were having a nice relaxing drive round! Mind you, judging by the smoke in Mr Sheen's picture it looks like you were being a bit more enthusiastic!

Assuming that you're at Donnington as I type this, I hope you enjoyed the filming today, and that you arrived home clutching the prestigious trophy! I'm assuming that they would have told you when your show's going to be on, so let us know and I'll get my mate to tape it again - I'm really looking forward to seeing the V8S against the 911 (was it a cab?).

Cheers,

Richard
