Have had a very minor misfire over the last couple of weeks. Earlier in the week it got worse and went terminal after a couple of miles. I originally went down the fuel pump failure route as I was not getting any noise from the pump. After an hour of playing with the AVO meter this morning and on the verge of giving up I decided to check all the fuses and found the 15 amp fuse labelled 'Engine run sensor/fan & primary relay' had blown. Replaced it and everything runs OK. Neither Haynes or The Bible are clear what this fuse covers other than the winding supply on the engine fan relay; I would really like to identify the original cause of the problem to avoid any further embarrassement. Any offers?

I thought the engine run sensor was connected via a relay to the fuel pump. There's a wiring diagram in the back of the Bible.

If the engine stops with the ignition still on, such as in an accident or due to a ruptured fuel line, then the engine run sensor should detect this and cut out the fuel pump.

Thanks guys; your pointers have lead me to a deeper understanding of the meaning of life. Further meditation on the 2.9 wiring diagram has lead me to realise that the engine run sensor and relay (big pink relay on the 2.8) are in fact the brown fuel injection relay and accompanying diode on the 2.9 engine. Further investigation behind the glove box now required.
