wipers/ motor

my wipers are slow on the fast setting and intermittent doesnt work at all. any ideas? think the motor may be on its way out. am i being an idiot??? errr wheres the motor???

Adrian Venn Excatly TVR Coventry adrian@ is your man if you have wiper problems. But S wipers have two speeds, very slow and slow, and I think that the intermitant wipe function was first fitted to the S3. However TVR being TVR there will also be exceptions. The wiper motor is under the dashboard on the passenger side behind the glover box. I think you need to have multi jointed arms with eyes in the end of your fingers.

There isn't an intermitant position on mine.
first click upwards is slow another click upwards is fast and moving stalk downwards from rest position gives a single wipe.
even on fast they don't go anywhere near as wizzy as they do on many modern cars.

Moving stalk down on mine gives me the intermittent - I don't have a single wipe function like OP above. Mine is a 1992 S3 to cover Norm's thoughts above about only fitting from S3 on

Mines an early S3 and I have the intermittent (or occasional ?) wipe like Mark.

when I fist got the car the positions bottom to top were

Occasional
Off
Smudge
Smear

I replaced the wiper blades and with driving through rain regularly they seemed to get better through use and are now pretty good...
