General fixes and upgrades

Hi,

Hoping that my V8S will run now until the end of the season without any major headaches, I’m already planning the work that I would like to do before next Spring.

However, I’m not sure what’s within my capabilities and what is not. As I’ve said before I’m not hopeless with a spanner, just very inexperienced.

Stuff I obviously can’t do is chip and professional set up on a rolling road, along with the major service. I’m thinking about £1k that?

The wiring is interesting shall we say, particularly at the front. The “new” foglights have never been wired in. How difficult/expensive is it to rewire part/all of the car. Presumably this should be undertaken at the same time the car is chipped.

Dash and switch panel needs replacing, door trim panel needs refitting, front speaker needs replacing (does the trim have to come off for that?), stuff that I should be able to do without breaking anything?

Perhaps I should just give Dulfords a call but any pointers?

A post on your regional forum may get the help of someone local. I'm up in the midlands but happy to help if I can, if you'd prefer by email. Wiring for things like lights isn't too difficult.

I am. Two seats and two small children means trips in TreVoR to regional meets means leaving someone behind. However, that's got to be the answer really hasn't it.

I reckon with Steve Heath's guide I should be able to do a fair few things, but adaptations to things like the door mirror mean there are plenty of unknowns.

Speaker and door trim is easy if not a little fiddly. Lower dash panel is simple enough but the main panel is a bit more tricky.

Had a go at the door trim. There was no "hidden nut" fitted. After an hour trying to get one on and failing I think I know why. I shall have another go in the week, otherwise that will have to go to be done properly somewhere!
