(Honest) Opinions please

I bought this S2 in July and was pretty pleased with it. Chassis is solid, respray is of the highest quality, interior is in very good condition and the engine is as sweet as a nut!!

However!! After viewing quite a few of your cars I'm beginning to think I need to make a few changes and I would appreciate your feedback.

1) Door Handles (back to chrome)
2) Headlight surrounds (back to chrome)
3) Front Indicators (bloody horrible but I think the bumper "improvement may hamper any changes)
4) Wheels
5) reinstate the bumper trim (again may not be possible)

Let me know your thoughts

I think I would leave the wheels (perhaps powdercoat back to silver) and the bumper (not that I prefer it but it is probably too difficult unless you have cheap fibre glass manufacture and spray facilities) but definitely agree with you on the chrome handles and headlight surrounds.

As for the indicators, I think I'd find a rectangular set from another common car and then cut the holes to fit them to replace the round ones you've got. In essence I think your options are almost limitless here as long as they cover the holes for the current ones and sit between the flat part of the bonnet where the bumper used to be.

I agree with Mark - wheels and bumpers are ok. Definitely change the door handles and headlight trims, and those indicators look silly IMHO, don't suit the car at all.

I agree with the above too.
The wheels are fine. Indicators dont suit the car and those headlight surrounds have to go.
Nice car though - looks in good nick.

I'd definitely change the headlight trims and door handles. Some of the alternative indicators mentioned on here, Kia, BMW etc would look a lot better IMHO. I'd also change the bonnet badge, or spray it silver. I'd live with the wheels until I could find some original replacements, probably cheaper than reworking what you have.

Not bad Andrew, and you?
Been very busy with the heating business and had to spend every minute on it. Not been on this forum for a while.
Took the S out yesterday, reconnected the battery started it up no bother and after warming it up it went like a scalded cat!

I don't understand why folks would change the chrome on these cars to black? It makes them look more like a kit car...

Hi Dave my S is red and IMO I would lose the black headlight trims, badge and door handles and those indicators. Wheels and mirrors are ok but I prefer the standard Oz alloys, but it is all personal choice at the end of the day. I prefer the standard look as far as possible. Overall though your car looks very well indeed. Good luck what ever you decide to change. Sometimes its pays to be different.

Not keen on those little giblets on the bumper. Decent set of alloys would transform it too.

I will definitely change the lights and door handles, those front indicators have to be changed!!! Gonna leave the wheels for the time being and as suggested will replace the badges with some cheeky little chrome numbers!!

Dont Like:Black Door handles or headlight rims, mirrors prefer S3 type, bonnet badge
Un biased about wheels (I actually prefer the OZ slots)
Loath the indicators

How about changing the quarter lights and petrol filler cap to black to match the door handles?

I also dislike the indicators...

Do not mind most of it, but the indicators look terrible. The wheels are ok, but are not dished enough for the period, although I think the black is better than silver/aluminium when contrasting with red.
