Windscreen improvement.

I'm fed up with looking at the manky edges to my windscreen. For a change they are not milky (which I have seen on some cars) but have slightly delaminated and look as though air has got under the black edges (it probably has!!) and caused a shiny/silvery appearance.
The screen surface itself although original is not bad so dosen't really warrant replacement.
My question to you dear reader is has anyone managed to even half successfully paint (or any other option)the screen surround to try and mask the mess! If so what did you use? Are there special glass paints? Have you got any pics?
Not too worried about longevity and wether its resilient to wiper chaffing (oh err)as I try not to use the car in the wet (cue sniggers from all you die hard never put the roof on all weather types! ).
Not looking for extra work on the car but its one of those things that draws my eye every time I look at the car.

at a glance you could not tell
have a go cannot look worse than a milky screen
had a new one fitted thursday

Masked mine with black sticky backed plastic about a year ago, used the car all winter and its still sound. Looks very tidy, in fact you dont realy notice it. I made a cardboard template first and reversed it for the other side to make sure both sides were the same.

Thanks chaps, I'll give the glass paint a go first and if that fails then i'll give the sticky back plastic a try.

Failing that i'll bite the bullet and buy a new screen. Although I have heard the horror stories of cut interior trim and delamination within a few months!

I have heard that Phil Lomas 530dTPhil of Mobile Windscreens Ltd 0117 304 2000 is the man to help with new windscreens and have heard good reports of the quality of work. I understand he will ensure a fitter experienced on TVRs will be sent yo do the job http://www.mobilewindscreens.co.uk
