V8S Brake disc, Diff & nuts

Hi All,

Is it normal for the front disc's not to have the vee head retaining screw fitted? I mean the hub is not drilled & tapped to accept a screw? (I would say new disc's and pads shortly before being stored, shame up-grading though)

I borrowed a 3/4 drive & a suitable length of tube to wrestle the rear hub nuts off, hey didn't even need the tube!! what a suprise, not.

Now can anyone tell me what differential is used in the V8S I understand it's a LSD but off what? in the bible it say's some 'obscure' German Ford? not very helpful from an expert!

Haven't been up-loading photo's as I would say one buggered chassis looks pretty much the same as another.

the disk retaining screw isn't needed - it only locates the disk while the wheels are off. The only risk is that the disk wobbles about and crap falls down between the disk and the hub face, and then the disk doesn't sit straignt when you put the wheel back on.

Can't really help with the diff - although I believe the Sierra Cosworth and possibly the XR4x4 had LSDs, so I would guess they are probably worth looking at first.

Spent some 'research' time on Google diff is 2.9 Sierra 3.36 ratio, no worries for parts then.

The V8S has a limited slip diff - I wrote all the numbers down off mine if you want me to post them up let me know I'll dig them out.
Its a pretty tough unit - I'd be tempted to stick it back in personally, it can always come out again with a selection of appropriate swearwords and bleeding knuckles

Hey Chris,

I have all the details off mine and yes LSD same as Escort Cossie.
Should just be bearing and seal replacement, as you say tough unit.

Having to go off to the Algarve for a week of R&R so no progress for a week or so.
