Replacement Headlights

There is always interest on here on upgrading the candle holders fitted as standard to our cars and while at the Classic Car show, which did have a bright orange S2 on the TVRCC stand, spent a while talking to Stratford Vehicle Componants.

I first asked about the difference between the budget and the Wipac Freeform headlights.

Firstly the build quality is far better on the Wipac version and SVC said the optical quality and clear light pattern was far superior and they recommended the Wipac.

We then discussed the Wipac Quad Optic headlights (which I fitted some time ago and was very pleased) here they said that the light pattern is better and clearer than either of the freeform lights but obviously not so 'fashionable' in appearence. And they recommed these plus the 100% upfited halogen bulbs.

Finally I asked about the HID conversion and was told that they do have some reservations about these as, while they produce by far the highest light output, they do have to be extremely well adjusted. There is also some question about their legality. When fitted to new cars they have to have self levelling suspension and washers fitted. There is no such leglisation on retro fitting but it is thought that the BiB could charge users if they felt the strength of the lights caused an accident, so at the moment even though they sell them recommended against them.
