Winter Surgery!

Dropped the S off at RT Racing for chassis welding - hopefully no more than the outriggers but until the body is off, we'll not know for sure. Fingers crossed. She'll be all "spic and span" for the spring.

Will try and post pics thru the cold dark nights to show progress.

Called in to see mine at the local garagiste last night. Its having new trailing arms, fuel tank cradle and clutch. A other parts are now required:

Once the fuel tank was moved, even slightly, the fuel hose started leaking

The engine mounts had just about sheared through the rubber/metal join. Less than a couple of mm were holding it all together.

At least the front chassis looks good now its accessible with the engine out. Clearly the 2,8 leaks just enough oil to keep it preserved

I was worried when the mechanic's first words were 'your bloody chassis'... Fortunately he was only referring to the transverse tube that stops you dropping the gearbox out from underneath by the small matter of a mm or two.

don't know if you can see, but the outrigger on the near side front (next 2 pics) has started to collapse and is bending!!!








Luckily the central core seems OK. so when cut and repaired, painted there'll be a full waxoil.

and now it's been painted, need to re-fit the petrol tank (once painted), waxoyl then put it all back together.

And buy a new air filter !

When you say Waxoyl do you mean drill holes and pump inside chassis tubes or just drench the outside in it ?

Thanks, yes it's looking much, much better and now the weather is starting to pick up on the odd day, i'm itching to get it back.
