Just drivving up from the glorious weather in the South East to the North West when it started raining.

Unfortunately the when I switched the wipers on there was a click from the passeger footwell and no wipers. I pulled over at a service station, changed the fuse. Same thing. Click and burnt out fuse I thik the click is the fuse blowing.

Now this has happened twice now and I have never found the problem. But this time I had to drive 150 miles in the rain with now ipers. RainX Thank You!!

I have tried the wipers again, as I am at t he gf's house and the same thing. Does anybody have any idea what it could be or how I couldd test for it?

I think that it is water in the electrics so I'm going to seal everything some more tomorrow, have to drive to Newcastle on Sunday.

What are the suspect areas to seal?

Cheers Guys.

Water everywhere in the electircs is a good start..

However, I had a similar problem a while ago, turned out to be the park switch. This is located on the wiper motor itself which you can access by removing the glovebox and moving all the wores aside. The motor is held in by 10mm bolts, you need a spanner each end otherwise you will be lying in the footwell uselessly turning a bolt thats rotating freely the other side. Ideally a 2 person job and to get a hand to each you need to be built like an orangutang.

If its trhe park switch, I'm not sure what to suggest other than replacing it if you can't clean it up. Joolz sourced the part for me, will have the part number in my file somewhere so will look it up and get back to you.

Cheers Psychobert, it could possibly be that. I got them working on the motorway but they blew again after half an hour of continuous use. Luckily they went in the park position. Unfotunately they also wiped off most of my RainX.

No problem.. Does sound exactly like my park switch problem. I was convinced it wasn't the park switch as after a few weeks of carefully timing switching the wipers off when parked, (the switch was on its way out) they parked themselves and it blew for good. Fairly easy to solve.

Watch for 10mm spanners disappearing into the space between bulkhead/inner wing and outer wing. Still haven't found a magnet stong enough to retrieve mine..

I think it' definitely the park switch, as the wipers only seem to blow in the park position, never vertically or at the furthest of their travel.

Can you find that part nuber Psychobert?

When removing the wiper motor can you take the motor out without taking out the wiper drive mechanism?

What does the park switch look like?

Sorry for all the questiohns, just I'm stuck in Manchester and need to be in Newcastle asap, ideally tomorrow. But I'm not driving in the rain with no wipers.

Definately sounds like the park swaitch.. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you; hopefully all sorted now, but if not, here's what I can remember..

The switch is about an inch and a half long and is attached directly to the wiper motor itself. The motor will come out fairly easily, but you will need to loosen each wiper arm and then pull the motor and drive mechanism out in one go; the drive itself cannot be detached from the motor.

Was stuck in Manchester myself all weekend, in a house with no internet access so couldn't get back to you any earlier. If you are still stuck tomorrow, let me know and I'll see what I can do..

Cheers Psychobert. Actually I had to come back so I applied RainX and hoped. Unfortunately I had to pull over for a couple of hours until the rain passed, and the wipers have totally died now.

Don't know about that, things are in motion, but I shall say no more.

But the bly wiper motor may be gone now!! And I can't afford to replace it. Anybody know of a spare one going? It may be a case of rainX for a while now.
