This is the second time I've tried to post this so heres hoping.

Have just driven back from Manchester to Leicestershire in my new S Series. Its a "1.5". The interior and the engine bay are a bit scruffy but nothing that can't be sorted. The underside dosn't look too bad but I will find out when I can get right underneath.

Can anyone help me with the read out from the dials.

1. The temperature hovers around the 90 mark and will creep up towards the red but dosn't go into it.
2. The oil pressure gauge reads 50 when driving and just under in tickover.
3. The voltmeter stayed just above the 13 volt even with all the light on.

Are the readings all right.

Have also heard mention of "The Bible". What is it, where do I get it and how much.

No doubt the broad grin I had today driving back will be wiped of my face in the coming months but just now it is firmly stuck there.

as far as those readings go they look fine perhaps the oil pressur is a little high on tickover - i seem to recall 30 psi is the figure in the bible :scrathchin:

however with TVRs the guages would be best described as inexact....
- one thing you will note with the voltmeter is that it will not charge until the engine revs have hit circa 2k - can be disconcerting when starting the car from cold in the dark - the fan & lights can make the voltage perilously low but it will correct once the alternator kicks in.
