Does this mean you could be travelling even faster next time I spot you?

Not seen him for a little while, he has in the past spent a littel while abroad or could be in the middle of hte ocean in one of his boats .

Had a thought about this since we spoke at the weekend though Phil, not too sure if a S1.5 is the best starting point for a project as this.
I'm sure there are V8S's out there that can still be had for decent money, check with V8Smith, I don't think he paid a fortune for his and by all accounts it is more than a decent motor. I actually think a S4 would be a better starting point for a cossie conversion but to be honest I really think you'll get a V8S cheaper.

Harry is right there are bargains to be had if you buy at the right time. Due to a combination of buying in November, the guys missus wanting a new Kitchen and the car needing work, I got a bargain and am very happy with it. Since I bought it though I have improved it a lot, but the car was in very good condition chassis/bodywork wise and thats all you need to start the cosmetic stuff can be improved on over time.

The cosworth S will be fast but dont think it will sound as good as the V8S! Wont the extra power require a lot of extra strengthening everywhere thus leading to more problems later on as more stress will be on the chassis/body?

belive me, grahams car is faster than a V8S, although in fairness his cossie engine is blueprinted and running serious BHP.

Whilst it sounds different from a V8, it sounds as good.

We were having idle pub talk last night of twin turbos on a cossie V6 and Nos for around 600bhp. nice.

Err.. Here I am - sorry I havent been around much recently, pressure of work and a move to the Isle of Wight has meant little time for logging on. But the real reason is more probably embarrassment over the sad saga of the car

Some while ago it managed to ingest a chunk of air filter mesh which did some damage to one of the valves. During the strip down process the timing chain guides (plastic) fell apart, so set about ordering a new set. Here the problems started - Ford no longer supply parts for the 2.9 Cosworth, and it has taken a huge amount of time sourcing the bits. I hope that we will have the engine back together early next month, and can get on with scaring the odd V8

If anybody is thinking of the same conversion, buy 2 engines (one for spares!) as the parts are becoming as rare as rocking horse manure. (Oh and go for throttle bodies not carbs)

Bye for now

Hi graham

thats thrown a spanner in the works. or should i say a air filter mesh in the works.

quite surprised that parts for those engines are so hard to come by. ah well, maybe its not such a good idea. Ever since that spin in your car I have had the idea at the back of my mind as a project car. Guess may have to resort to a V8S with Nos instead then but it would have been nice to do something a bit different.

Hope all else is well. Be good to catch up at the Sailor soon
