Electric window parts - help...!
Discussion
I've just had a call from another Mid-Essex S series owner who has a bit of an electric window problem. Both windows are stuck (up thankfully) so he stripped the doors down and discovered that the spindles have suffered water ingress and have rusted away (as have the cogs)... but the motors are fine!
He's tried the factory and local dealers (who weren't too interested by all accounts) and Steve Reid and David Gerald were unable to help with the parts either.
So, does anyone know where Graham can get 2x spindles and cogs for the electric windows...?
Links/phone numbers to scrapyards would be helpful too...
Thanks.

Hi Podie
I had pretty much the same trouble a couple of months ago....Motors were OK..!!
Mine had stripped the gear in the housing which drives the coil window lifter.
My window stuck halfway down..
I tried TVR and various other places(no joy), they are the same mechanism as the Chim and also I think the Griff.
Tell Graham not to look solely for the 'S'
My Pics...
I eventually got mine care of Steve Heath, who need a motor for a chim but not the mechanism so we had the best of both worlds.
He got them from a local scrappy who had a chimera ready to strip.
Thats how I know the Chim ones fit the 'S'....

I think I have a pair of these for the later cars (i.e long doors) they don't have the motors and from what I remember they are in very good condition.Seeing as both my S's have short doors I will gladly sell them
Cheers

OK, give me a price and I'll pass the details on...
