The daily driver of course...............did I get you going???????????
Had a Rover 75 V6 Estate from new 2002, now done 135k miles (new engine at 80k) and I cant decide to keep or not.
Its due for a big service circa £350, needs a new cooling fan circa £300, rear springs circa £150, clunk in transmission possibly worn CV joints, possibly air con service/re-gas, but a super car very comfortable, effortless on a journey and gives about 28-30 mpg. Only worth a few hundred quid (we buy any car about £500 unseen so they will try to push down) cash or a bit more in part ex.
But what to get, it needs to be about same size (for transporting grand kids and their equipent), and I suppose an oil burner but only do about 10k miles a year now as we have retired so again not sure. Not much spare cash so I'm looking for inspiration.
So far I lean towrds replacing with an 04/05 75 estate and can get one with 60k odd miles and very well specified with a 2.5 ltr V6, FSH for about £3800 but an searching for inspiration

I'm just about to get rid of my 2000 S4 Avant & have been amazed at how little they're going for. It's a high miler but these things keep going for ever and it still looks & feels like a much younger car. 2.7twin turbo which will still return 27-30mpg, great to drive and good storage. If you're only doing 10K a year and use independants ( or do the work yourself ) the running costs are pretty reasonable. There's a couple on the market now which are a lot of car for £4-5K
I have always liked Volvo's, go and test drive one of these. Very comfy on the long runs

Dont need cam belts until 90K plus miles so thats 3 -4 years away

Norman, sell the S and repair or replace the Rover with the proceeds! Only Kidding 
It will cost you either way but with your current car you know the faults, if you buy another Rover you could be buying trouble and same/similar repairs. My advice would be to fix up your old girl as said it will be the cheapest route. HTH Damon
