I have finally got my new speedo from Speedy Cables (they aren't!) - Ant. sorted them out as a group buy, it was £162 including some postage.
A bonus is that it has a trip meter.
Ant says his is very fractionally bigger in diameter so I have not determined if this is going to give me an issue yet.
The speedo has come back programmed with my old mileage and setup for the same calibration as the old speedo - although it has bare wire ends so I will have to connect the plug off the old speedo (I don't really want to cut the original connector off the loom).
The pointer is from my original speedo so it matches the rev counter.
The new speedo is manufactured by Caerbont.

Fitted speedo today.
It was fairly easy.
The wood trim just had to be sanded slightly at the top edge - the bezel is a fraction bigger than the old one.
I have a slight issue in that the illumination seems to have an intermittent fault - it may be the bulb its an LED thing that goes in place of a normal bulb - I know it has power as the mileage display doesn't go out. I will speak to speedy cables next week.
I haven't driven it yet to see if it actually works - car is SORN'd at the moment so I can only have a sneaky short journey.
I have fitted the trip reset button in the steering column cowling just behind the ignition switch - there's loads of room there. 7mm hole and Bob's your mum's brother.

Those gauges look fantastic. I do love the old style gauges which start from the 2:00 position.
Purely out of interest did the original S Series speedos feature an LCD display? From memory the Griff Precat gauges which are similar have a mechanical odo & trip.
No quite right the original speedo had mechanical odo - no more tapping the glass at 999 Purely out of interest did the original S Series speedos feature an LCD display? From memory the Griff Precat gauges which are similar have a mechanical odo & trip.
