I was browsing through TVR Car Parts stuff for the S Series and came across this:

http://www.tvrcarparts.com/pages/partdetail.asp?id...

Looks an easy change, and will no doubt increase braking capability smile. Or is there a more economic solution?

Also, I wish to get my gaz suspension setup properly, can anyone recommend somewhere down south? Thanks

Drive slowly?

Seriously, I've always found the S brakes realy good, did some rapid stops from over a hundred at Cosford at last years SCH with no problems at all. Its a lot of money to upgrade something already pretty good.

Thanks for your replies thumbup

I've PMed Hansdaal and hopefully he has something for me.

I agree, in normal driving conditions, the standard brakes are more than adequate. But having taken her on some PH runs last year, the only thing that she seemed to lack when amidst the newer cars was handling and stopping power. Ok, I could have dove with a bit more power and a 6th gear for the motorways but hey wink

That's about the right sort of spec for a front brake upgrade if you have 250mm rear discs. Not sure how well balanced it would be with the drum setups but presumably similar. The price isn't bad either if that includes brackets, discs etc. Although I must say that's not the manufacturer I get my brake components from. For a cheaper option you can also keep the existing callipers and just move them out a bit to take bigger rotors.

Thanks for all the link, not sure why I didn't find that on the search function.

The other thought regarding the brake system now is to replace fluid, pads ect with better quality materials. This should make a difference smile

Also check the servo. They rust at the bottom and if it feels soft it's time for a new one.

EBC pads? drilled, grooved, vented, bigger disks??
Dont bother with fluid unless you flush the system through. I believe the likes of dot 5 the only benefit is track use, higher boiling point(?) and I have heard that its not very compatible with dot 4 so the system needs to be mega clean or new to get any benefit from it.

You know though I believe this is all because a certain someone has a Golf thats faster than your 'sports car'!? winkbiggrin

I wouldn't recommend EBC pads, and I'd strongly advise against drilled rotors for safety reasons. Bigger discs brings you back to needing extra brackets and so on. DOT5 fluid you don't want on a road car. Probably DOT5.1 is what you were thinking of. It brings up an interesting question though: what is the purpose of the proposed upgrade? The usual reason for brake upgrades is to solve an overheating problem, but if you don't have that then brake upgrades are a rather expensive fashion statement.

No, because its got a custom grown up exhaust system not a silly chav one!
Sounds like a normal car. Not a patch on a cologne V6 sound though.

And as for the brakes, yes all very questionable and those were just a few ideas. Alot of people just go for looks, unless the car is powerfull enough to need a decent brake setup. So what is required of the upgrade, Im guessing its to make the car handle better generally.
S brakes are good anyway and Iv driven the car in question so I know the standard its been built to already.
