Water pump

Have dropped the rad off today to be re cored pick it up on monday, also have had new water pump and thermostat delivered which I will fit tomorrow. Is it as easy as it looks to fit the water pump or is the dog going to get kicked round the kitchen when I get in.

It's easy - the main problem is likely to be the bolts snapping off, even with penetrating oil etc.

In preperation for tomorrow then what is the best method or tool to get the snapped bolts out. Thanks in advance

Changed mine a while back no problem and no snapped bolts, no skinned knuckles and the dog didn't get a kicking

did you get the seal ring with the stat, its like an O ring, not a gasket ?

Great thanks for the heads up, I was only joking about kicking the dog just in case any one thought I was being serious, and yes the stat came with a gasket and a o ring.

Seems odd for the pump and rad to fail together. Do you actually need a new pump?

Like the others said, use penetrating oil, I gave mine a squirt for a week before removing the bolts. Its the bottom ones that can be a problem. Be very careful with the gasket too.

What, if any, gasket goo would you use, i'm stuck in a time warp when hermatite ruled the roost

As well as the supplied gasket i used Hylomar Universal Blue on both sides too.

The rad had a slight weep and so did the water pump, the pump was getting quite noisey aswell.So thought it would be best to sort this as I have a few large trips planned for her this year.
