Original chassis colour

Would like to know if there was 1 colour used for the chassis at the factory or were there many different colours? The reason I want to know is mine is currently red and was wondering whether it came out the factory this colour or a previous owner did a chassis refurb. Many Thanks

Red...but what shade reference - and any special paint to resist the tmeperatures/corrosion down there?

I used a paint called "Rustoleum" guess Hammerite smooth would do a decent job too and something called Por 15 (I think) gets mentioned a lot.
These sort of paints tend to come in "red" and thats it, no choice of shade. The Rustoleum was a bright Pillar Box sort of red whereas the remaining powder coat was a bit deeper, slightly maroon-ish, but maybe that was just age and it had started out bright red ?

It's very impressive, certainly, but I can think of 2 that are as good, despite being used a bit more.

My 1993 v8 is also RED

If you scrape the grime off mine it was once white.

When I get round to stripping and painting I think i'll paint it black. partly so that it wont look too dirty and partly so I can see which bits i've done.

Yes whatever happened to that one that had 8000 genuine miles? I bet that has a good one.
