bonnet catches

Hi,
Does anyone happen to know which car the bonnet catches are from. I have been trying to adjust the bonnet today as I have always had trouble with the near side catch popping out. Had a close look and realised the near side catch pin is about an inch shorter than the off side so it won't engage correctly (even when set as long as it will go). Obviously in the past someone has fitted the wrong one (or maybe thats what was in the factory stores that Friday..!!)
Racetech direct have new one for £32 + vat + shipping which is a bit stiff as I really just need a longer pin, the spring and seat etc are OK. Looking off ebay I reckon it could be off a ford or mini but not sure.
If no one knows I'll have to go the racetech route.
While I'm on the subject of bonnet adjustment has anyone struggled with the range of adjustment. I need to shift the passenger side another cm away from the centre of the car but I'm already at the end of the bolt adjustment. Also, the off side is as high as it can go but only just clears the wing. The chassis is straight so its not that. The bonnet flexes quite a bit, so maybe years of incorrect adjustment have twisted it slightly. Its not been damaged and incorrectly repaired so far as I can see. I can force it into position by adjusting the pins but it won't naturally settle in the correct position. Also, using the pins makes it hard to open the bonnet as the pins are slightly under load. Anyone else had this.

You are right. I don't have the item in front of me and I forgot there was the flat hex piece threaded on as well as a nut to bolt it to the bonnet. So I will need the right thread on a new pin, unless of course I cobble it together.
Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and buy a complete new catch.

might be worth taking a punt on this...

seems to have all the bits you would need to replace your short (10mm) pin with pin, nuts etc from this one.
probably worth investing in an imperial tap to run through your existing nuts so you can buy the new one... come on, nowts just buy and fit on TVR's everything needs something done to it to make it fit

If it's just the pin you want and you have a friend with access to a lathe, it's easy to turn one from a bit of bar. I did this after failing to adjust one of my pins which was rusted solid. The photo shows the end of the old pin and the back of the fag packet I used for dimensions (mm). The new one to these dimensions worked fine.
