That Damn rear end!

Ok, so new job approaches and with it (hopefully ) the step into TVR ownership, I would ideally like to start with the S series as I like the shape and the interior is very nice indeed, also there is a lot of knowledge out there so help is not far away, HOWEVER, those rear lights are killing me! I just cant get over them, I know the look of them would bug me through ownership, so I was wondering, anyone modified the rear of their S? pictures if possible please!

I kind of understand, the MK IV Escort is a pretty lowly donor.....however, get it in perspective : most of the time you'll be staring in front of you with a wild-eyed grin on your face. At other times, you'll be admiring the perfectly executed front-end, the perfect proportions and the way everything is just right.

Also, if you've ever followed an S for anytime, you'll realise how good it looks from the rear.

You should pity the Chimaera (Fiesta!) and the Griff (Cavalier!!!), really.

By the way, there's a V8S with smoked rear lenses and old school black / silver number plates and it looks fantastic against dark blue coachwork, so things can be tweaked a bit.

First post on the forum and you try and alienate us all by having a go at our a*ses!!! Why do they look fat to you? Next you'll be asking about different alloys, different indicator lenses and who knows you may even squeeze in a new engine (from something non ford or rover!!)

Seriously welcome to the forum, there are many of us who have gone for smoked versions or clear versions etc and a few who have remodelled, but IMHO the remodled ones really do not look good, the smoked lenses atc depend on the car colour. Really I can't understand your issue with the rear lights other than the obvious frequent earthing failures!!

The Escort MK4 lights come in other colours - darkened, clear and blue tinted. Search on ebay for Escort Mk4 lights and you'll see.
The standard coloured ones I personally am not too keen on either.
Tinted ones do look good particularly on a dark car.

Well I like the rear lights think they look great especially under load when the back end is squatted down.

Its not so much the rear end itself, I mean it suits the car perfectly, its just the lights, something about them niggles me, maybe they are slightly too large? hmmm I cant put my finger on it! i will have a pop over to ebay and see what your all talking about!

Standard colour to tinted - the observant of you my also notice that the before shot has two different types on there as well as one had clearly been replaced in the past for some reason.

The tinted ones do look good, makes them more subtle and blend with the car better, like a lot of you have said the right lights on the right colour can make a big difference.......oh go on then! you lot have persuaded me with all these rear end shots! the search is on!
