Another complete and original and a bit cheaper than the silly prices we've seen recently...

Surely with these loony tunes prices somebody has come up with an alternative now?
Eschewing originality for a moment, what's wrong with a couple of pieces of orange coloured acrylic for pennies?

At least two people have looked into or actually had copies made and price works out about the same as genuine ones are fetching, probably because of low volumes involved?Plenty of alternatives exist but for those that want originality I don't think £75 is too horrendous? If they were still in production I reckon they'd be about £25 so three times that ain't bad
Fair enough I suppose, but I would still baulk at paying £25 for a small rectangular piece of orange plastic! I've seen the same thing on the Saab scene - rear decor panel (reflective bit of red plastic that goes between the rear lights) for £250 BNIB. Somebody will pay it who is desperate for originality but I'd rather spend the money on keeping the car on the road 
Logic goes out of the window with these things... I can see a list of people who are buying pattern parts sourced by Norman, presumably because they want "originality" ... but then some have asked for the plastic to be non-original smoked ...

I reckon whatever you are looking at, if you have the money and want it bad enough, you will pay. Theres loads of choice of alternatives out there and in my opinion some of these look better than the originals. Originals have been seen to go for as much as £240/pair recently remember...
cards on table, I have a set of originals (in blue DAF box) in my spares drawer and they will never go on my car... I'm keeping them in case a future buyer thinks my choice of lenses are a deal breaker, then I can throw them in as a sweetener... The lenses on my car were original but I simply ground off the cracked flanges...

Maybe TVR's aren't for you then , some parts for these cars are far from easy to come by and they can't all be held together by tissue paper and sticky backed plastic. Saying that the original sunglasses cubby hole on my 'M' when i changed the dash was a felt lined Winfield scalloped potatoes box - it was a bit shabby, i couldn't trace an original one to replace it with, been discontinued years ago, but still would have paid a good price for an original

It`s a fair comment, my S is far from original, but it still makes me smile and turns heads, IMHO if an S is in good mechanical order with an MOT and a good chassis then it`s good. I don`t think I`ve seen to many original cars around, but it`s nice to see one that`s close to it.

You never know, them Winfield scalloped potato au gratin boxes are extremely rare, that one expired in 1980. The updated Uncle Ben's box didn't fit quite as well, so i would go for originality if i could every timeIan
