Rocker cover gaskets

Hi All,
I'm thinking of removing my rusty rocker covers and repainting them. Can anyone help with the part number of the gaskets,can you buy them as separate items or, do you need to buy the complete gasket set and the best place to source them from.
Also thinking about cleaning up the plenum cover (alloy) does anyone know the best way to clean them. I have seen some threads on painting them but want to keep it standard if I can.

Had some decent ones from David Gerald TVR a while back (possibly genuine Ford/Motorcraft), about £8 each so that offer on Ebay doesn't look too good to me and bought some cheapies off Ebay recently but they were a totally useless fit !
Any good Motor Factors should be able to supply just the r/c gaskets or www.gasketsforclassics.co.uk

Tom, here is the part no: F1651474, bought mine last year from Ford Dealer £4.96 each plus VAT. They come separate, so order 2. Don't ask how I know that.

Re:gaskets with inserts, if the cam covers have been overtightned in the past they could be slightly warped so use plenty of sealant as it will just seal down on the inserts and not the gasket. I had one with and one without inserts - guess which one had to come off to re-seal. Tom just for reference if you are taking the plenum chamber off the gasket part no. on the 2.9 is ford part no.1659956.

As for cleaning your inlet plenum, a little tip I picked up a while back - try a normal spray-on type alloy wheel cleaner (cheapo tesco stuff in trigger spray bottle will do) and an old toothbrush mixed with a bit of elbow grease. Used wisely, although it won't work wonders, it'll fetch out a lot of the grime from the casting and makes things look much more presentable. I've used it on a few cars in the past, try a scouring pad (gently!) if the toothbrush won't shift it. And, as all the best instructions say, try on an inconspicuous area first!
For a few quid its worth a try.
