I am intending to do some trackdays and go back to the Nurburgring this year. Last year I suffered brake fade and boiled the brake fluid. I am planning to fit Yellow Stuff front pads and replace the fluid with DOT 5.1.

I am getting slightly confused over the part number of the correct pads. Many sites, including EDC do not quote Yellow Stuff for the S Series. Venom motorsport do quote a EBC part number of DP4415R. This is the same part number as EBC quote for early Chimaera and Griffith models.

My question is simple, has the S got the same front brake pads as the early Chimaera and Griffith models? Is EBC DP4415R the right front pads for my S3?

Many thanks

David

Hi, I would think the yellow stuff pads are a bit over the top for what you are thinking of, they will squeal like a bugger on the road but would do the job on the ring, I personally use Mintex 1144 pads on my S3c they are brilliant on the road and no fade at all on the nurburgring last year thumbup If you have standard brakes then then it is the same as any Sierra or mk3/4 Escort.
When are you going to the ring ? I am doing my yearly trip May 21/22 would be brilliant to see other TVR s there at the same time biglaugh
Cheers.....Tony..

Simple answer - Yes!
All S and early Griff / Chim have 240mm front discs.
Later Griff / Chim have 260mm front discs, this is an easy upgrade on an S.

Tozerman (Tony) From all I have read, Yellow Stuff is like Marmite _ love it or hate it. I think I will give it a try. I will be going to Nurburgring later in the year. I am thinking of going with Trackdays and maybe also to the TVRCC old timers GP weekend.

Barkychoc (David). Thanks for your clear answer. I never realised the early Chimaera and Griffith models had the same brakes, all I have read is about people upgrading to Chimaera brakes (must be the 260mm later ones)

thanks

David

Agree with Tony, yellow might be a bit OTT - unless of course you live close enough to the ring to use it very regularly hehe

It'd be good not to be the only S at the Oldtimer GP, hopefully you can make it wink

Cheers,
L'rs

I used EBC on my cosworth, EBC recommended yellow fronts and green rears... Very dangerous unless the fronts were warm the car had a bad tendency to lock the rear brakes before the fronts. Swapped them for mintex same compound at both ends was much better.

Although with drums on back I guess this won't happen. They like to be warm though then they were great.

Just FYI. Damian S3

I used Mintex 1144 for a year or so, and then GreenStuff. They were both OK, but I've found better pads since then which offer more consistent grip over a wider temperature range, and better pedal feel when hot, and less disc wear. My current favorites are Ferodo DS2500.

++++1 for Ferodo DS2500. I have used them on the Ring and on Zolder Conti meeting. Perfect pads for normal road use and no fading on the track.
