I'd love one of these kits/models so I thought I'd see if SMTS (the makers) would be able to supply or remake some.
This was the reply:
"We would be very happy to make some TVR V8S models for you but we need a minimum order for 10 models, our current retail price is £86 + VAT.
Many thanks for the enquiry"
I suspect at that kind of cost we would struggle to get enough interest to make ten!

I'm noting interest as this may be a goer after all.
I've got back in touch with SMTS Models and have asked a few questions re delivery times etc and i'll get back to you when I hear from them.

Kev, i've asked the question but I suspect the mould would take too long/cost to much to make it worth their while for the numbers we're talking about.I would have one of those...

I've had another response from SMTS about Kevins request for a TVR S V6 model and the good news is they would be more than happy to manufacture the different bonnet

The bad news is they would need orders for 50
.
I think even in our wildest dreams we are never going to get there (unless you could run to purchasing 40 or so just for yourself Kevin?

I think I'll start another thread with a list of currently interested parties and see if we can get a few more so we reach the required ten for me to be able to order the V8 kits.
Also if I process all the orders myself (ie: if SMTS deliver all ten kits to me, assuming we reach the magic ten) they will offer a discount of around 15%.
This would mean a cost of £38 per kit(inc VAT) plus say £4 post and packaging.

I dont think 50 is beyond the realms of possibility (although I wont be buying 40 sets
) Maybe if they were offered here and on TVRCC forums or in Sprint we could get to 50, especially nearer to Christmas...
the other possibility is to offer them up on fleabay on a leadtime (I dont know if ebay rules allow for that ? )
anyway to get things started I'm in for a V6 (S2/S3)

Great effort getting these re-made but can I point out to anyone who has not made a white metal model that they require a fair bit more effort than your average plastic kit (lot more moulding flash, imperfections in castings etc).
If you have the skills to assemble one nicely modifying the bonnet shouldn't be a big deal ? Mine has Oz eight spokes, so they'll be right, not later wheels as fitted to some V8's
Not being negative but wouldn't want anyone to be dissappointed when they open the box

Very good point, I too imagined that a little fettling would be required especially given the probable age of the moulds but as far as I can tell we are not going to be spoilt for choice when it comes to models of our cars.If you have the skills to assemble one nicely modifying the bonnet shouldn't be a big deal ? The idea of modifying the bonnet had occurred to me as your going to be painting it anyway so a bit of filler and some effort should see a pretty good 'scooped' bonnet. That's why I'm going to order a couple just in case I mess up my attempted conversion
