S1 Won't start!

Went to start my lovely TVR tonight, but all I get from the starter motor is 'orrible clicking noises. Tried thumping it a few times (sticky bendix?) but to no avail. Now the battery is sounding a bit sick -won't activate starter, interior light goes dim when I try to start.

Opinions please:

New battery?

New starter?

Can't bump start it - garage at bottom of steep slope
Can't jump start it - car stuck nose first in garage!

Had same thing happen to me the other day. Lots of clicking from solonoid but engine didnt turn over. I cleaned up the battery terminals and the engine turned over and started without any problem.

Is the pre-engager stuck in the starter motor..? sounds a likely candidate to me. A swift tap with a soft mallet should solve the problem and get the car going, then its a case of getting the starter off and giving it a clean up and lube.

Edited to add: You need someone with a 4x4 to tow you up the slope away from the garage perhaps..?
