Bit of a long shot here but does anyone know of any fairly tall buildings in London where you're allowed to get on the roof? For photography purposes, not suicide!

The London Eye? Just don't spend too much time focusing or you'll have to go round again. biggrin

Here you go.

I think the Shard's going to have a viewing platform but I believe that won't be until 2013.

Small problem of the chainlink fence all around the top of the monument though - can hinder photography from the top

Thanks Bobsan, really helpful rolleyes haha

As for the monument - I was after something with a bigger surface area like the roof of a block of flats or something like that.

Not quite roof but paramount bar at the top of centre point is not bad

The roof terrace at One New Change is now open. Not sure if that's high enough for you though.

Failing that if you're serious talk to the building owners; TV/ad companies film on top of buildings all the time.

try level 42 ( top of nat west buliding near liverpool street), the views are stunning. you might have to book a table to get let up in the lift, but you dont have to eat if you change your mind :-) glass of champagne each for 2 and a tip about £25-£30 and as far as i am concerned there is not a better view in London to be had. IMHO of course

Problem with Vertigo (the bar on 42nd floor) is its very dark and you would be shooting through glass.

Considering how far away you can see *it* from, I should say so. Might be a tad breezy up there, though.

Not sure what membership is required, but if you can get into the bar in Centre Point then the views are spectacular.
