Hand car wash in the Newcastle area
Discussion
Yes, the one next to the arena doesn't look very good.
There is one on old Shields Road, just past the Woolsington Hotel in Walker. It's very popular with hackney cab drivers, but I did speak to one who had had his car scratched whilst he was getting it washed there.
I've used the one at Tesco, Kingston Park before, a couple of years ago when I had my Focus. I wasn't really happy with it. It cost about £14 for the wash and interior valet. The wash outside was pretty sloppy, with dirty patches left after the car dried - it hadn't been dried very well either! The interior job was lax too, with greasy smears of leather cleaner left on the seats that I ended up wiping out myself. They also damaged the car, blasting the pressure washers down over the mudflaps, causing them to come loose. I never did get them sitting right again before I sold the car. For something that took 45 mins I wasn't impressed at all. They also use those awful blades to dry the car, so scratches would be a concern for me.
I'm still waiting to find a decent drive-in handwash.

Unfortunately the one I recommended (Pickering Nook Garage) has gone off.
It's still ok but not as good as it was.
ALSO after five washes when they said they had run out of loyalty cards but keep count..... They now tell me they are not doing them anymore. Not good public relations to put it mildly.

Update: there are few of the original staff there now. When hand washing they used to use one sponge for "above the dirt line" and one for the really dirty bits at wheel level. Not now, one sponge for all areas. I reckon this is why my neighbours car and my car got scratches on them.
When I brought this to their attention, as the boss wasn't there, but due back very soon, they took my number for him to ring me..... Guess what.... No contact at all.
