Any recommendations to do a decent job of fitting only tyres? either Newcastle or Stockton?

TAM Tyres in Gateshead fitted mine and did a good job, no damage to the wheels and they only use Nitrogen aswell.

D and R Motors in Billingham are well worth it.

Any more specific recommendations please near Durham/ Boro or Newcastle? Place near me have quoted me £10 for my 15" wheels which is ok but they want £15 each for the 18" wheels (not runflats) which seems a bit steep.

Charged me £50 recently to change four runflats > non-runflats. Second time I've used them, decent price and, more importantly for me, managed to get the runflats off without causing any damage to the wheels.

We always use Car Tyre World, based in Tudhoe (County Durham) the tyre disposal fee seems to be the most expensive bit so maybe get rid of them yourself?
