Hello All,

Having recently moved to the LE11 locale from hundreds of miles away, I find myself lacking local knowledge as to who the decent local mechanics are.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Price isn't too important. Quality of work is.

Thanks!

Blimey! None at all? That's a bit of a worry.

I got a couple, both VAG. But in this case, it's replacing *all* the rear brake components on both sides of one of them: discs, pads and callipers (well one, but might as well replace both) all knackered.

I use a mobile mechanic for my daily car who lives about 6 miles from L'boro. He works from your place, PM me if you want contact details.

My TVRs all go to PPC at Melton who also work on various other marques.

It's not Loughborough, Blue Peter Garage in the centre of Leicester is the only place in the area that I currently trust my cars with.
Peter has done jobs on all of my cars; my 1275GT, two Land Rovers (one a modified bitsa hybrid), a track day slag and my daily driver.
His labour rates are always reasonable.

I tend to use Lee's or WestEnd (both on charnwood industrial estate) near the hospital. Yes it looks like its falling down but the prices tend to match that. When Westends ramp was down and they couldn't sort out my MOT Gordons (behind 3M) sorted it out for a similar rate and had a slightly shinier place.I've also heard good things about Duke street motors, but not been there myself.

Very good indeed - Ask for Martin and tell him Mrs James with the Audi A4 sent you.

I have no connection with this business except as a customer. They are fair and honest IMO

ETA they are VAG specialists.

Home is Coalville for me, so Shepshed isn't a trek either - do share, or PM me if you prefer? smile

Oh I see. Where abouts in coalville is home? I'm on the way out to abbots oak. Tim's mechanics, who has just opened a place on the flying horse island is very good. Used him before. Also, small mechanic in shepshed, just opposite the manheim auction is great, bit a little pricier than normal.

If its a nice easy job, you could always pop and use my mini workshop I've just created in the double garage. Easy jobs only mind. hehe

Actually Ravenstone. I say "home" since I'm not there most of the year, I'm at Loughborough Uni in term time, but any work being done on the car goes on there. Not too hot on local mechanics since I haven't had to call on one for anything major yet!

Cheers for the heads-up, I'll bear those two in mind should anything come up smile I'm forever driving past the Flying Horse roundabout so I shall keep an eye out for Tim's place. And thanks for the offer! Although, I think if it's anything I can't be bothered to do on the drive, I'd be a bit cheeky to do it in your garage wink
