Here in Rugby too, we thought it could be lightening, but nothing...

Yep, heard it in Rugby and have been trying to find out what it was since. Rumours are it may have been MoD testing overland creating a sonic boom.

Apparently the RAF are on a QRA - just sent up a VC-10 for fuel. Hello Ruskies, and bugger off.

Heard it here in Oxfordshire, I'm based at RAF Brize Norton. I think I might make some calls to work. See if they know what's going on.

Heard it here in Swindon, definitely a double bang, sounded as if someone rapped hard on the window twice. I went outside looking for dead birds!

From ITV twitter it was a sonic boom - 2 Typhoons were sent to respond to an emergency signal from a helicopter - standard procedure in case of 'rogue aircraft'

Not sure how accurate it is though! Heard it here in Leamington

Same here I live just off camp and could feel it as well as hear it.

Would love to have seen the face of the helicopter pilot when 2 Typhoons buzzed him at supersonic speeds!!

Sounds like the helicopter pilot is going to have some explaining to do! Imagine the adrenaline rush though for the Typhoon pilot on their way there at supersonic speeds.

Damn, I really want to hear a sonic boom at some point, it might be years before the next "event" happens over land in the UK.

Housemate and I heard it, I was in a covered garage so wasn't that loud, still sounded like a gunshot or cannon though! Mental.

I remember sat on Croyde Bay beach years ago. Almighty bang startled me. Looked up to see Concorde coming in from the Atlantic.
