Where to live near Stoke?
Discussion
Mine too. On the South/M6 side, there's Trentham, Newcastle under Lyme/Clayton/Westlands, Barlaston. All quite nice really.
To be fair to Stoke, for all its reputation, there's not really anywhere that's that bad, certainly not in relation to many other cities (like Liverpool/London/Birmingham/Manchester for instance). The big council estates probably are worth avoiding, but even then, they're not places you're going to get mugged/stabbed in (hopefully
).
Suggest a few areas that you've seen houses in, and us locals can give you our thoughts (which no doubt will all be different).

After much contemplation and further information, Stafford is probably where our search will be centered. Don't want anything too big, three biggish or four average beds, semi or detached and it has to have a garage.
Look at the Stone/Weston/Hixon area perhaps. The best thing about Stoke is that it is ready to get out off! Good road network, reasonably commuteable to Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham etc. As above, it's not exactly a crime hot-spot, but let's just say there is not huge genetic diversity around here. It's a very local-place-for-local-folk attitude in most of the main 6 towns.

Meanwhile, the search moves on towards Stafford(ish)...
I looked at Stafford before I bought my current house . It's just like anywhere else , some good and bad areas .I prefer to be closer to work these days . Had too many years of commuting and working away from home
