Looking for a couple of recommendations for : -

1. Portable Appliance Testing - Ideally needs to be sympathetic to the fact that some appliances are traditional due to historical significance of the buildings/business.

2. Fire Extinguisher Inspector - Reasonably priced without BS about unnecessary replacements.

To cover a South Warwickshire business.

Buy a Pat tester and do it yourself. Regs say testers have to be "a competant person" ie. some one who knows how to read instructions, use the machine, stick on a sticker and make a report. Not hard - thats how we do it, in so far as i can see all this PAT testin malarky is money for old rope.

Fire extinguisher....dunno....but theres plenty, another money for old rope scam.

You can hire a pat tester from tool hire shop and do it yourself as stated and unless you've got a particularly large office I'd just google a local supplier. Had our fire fighting equipment checked out think it cost a couple of hundred quid to sort. Probably cost more in petrol to drag someone possibly cheaper in.

We sent a guy in our office on a train the tester course it was £80.00 then got a tester and all the adaptors. It save a lot of hassle.

Thanks for the replies. Going down the equipment hire route, buying doesn't make sense for one off annual use when calibration is £60+VAT+shipping per annum.
