Criticise me... selling my car
Discussion
Hi all,
I am selling my Astra, well trying to sell my astra..
It has been on for two weeks with only one person interested, who decided it was too far to come and see it.
I need to sell quite soon now, as my new car is expected to be delivered next week, I can not justify insuring two cars though.
I have it advertised on ebay, motors.co.uk, gumtree and ph classifieds (obviously) I don't have it on autotrader yet, as it is so damn expensive!
I have it on at £4500, it is the second cheapest in my mileage and age range on the whole of eBay, same on motors.co.uk and on ph classifieds.
Its the 150ps astra 1.9cdti, 61K miles, FSH, taxed and mot'd, on a 06 plate.
It is a desirable car, decent power output, cheap to run, family hatch etc.
Can anyone shed some light as to why I am getting no interest? any improvements or criticisms welcomed!

No links to ads for whatever reason.

Awful awful awful pictures. There seriously is no excuse these days for there to be a hazy, out of focus, small, grainy picture on an advert and any advert I see where even the thumbnail looks crap, I'll skip right past it.
In fact that's exactly what I did when I clicked the link, I didn't even read the text, just came back here to reply.
Sorry, I've worded that very harshly but I hope you understand.

Yup. The photos themselves are posed ok etc, I think the main thing wrong with them is that there's something wrong with the camera lens. Must be dirt or grease or something on it which has cause the photos to be all blurry. You can get a new digital camera for like £50, which might be worth it when the car's several grands worth!Add in how many previous owners and how long you had the car, this is where you could add in that 'personal touch'. I would also detail the service history and what was done at the last service.
Pictures are most certainly the stopping point though, they really aren't very good are they? An ad with poor or no pictures gets no interest from me unless it's something rare and the written part is exactly what I wanted to read.

The new pics are OK but can't you take it somewhere nice with plenty of room about, like a country park.
Things I like to see are.
Show me the service book
Pic of the boot
Pic of under the bonnett
Show me the wheels close up (each one)
Show me the drivers seat including the bolster, don't drape the seatbelt over the seat in the pic.
Don't have reflections of other cars in your pics it looks too busy.
How many pics are you allowed on PH?
Out of the four places you have it listed, I wouldn't even look at three of them if I was buying a car. I rarely even look at the Pistonheads classifieds either now that Autotrader have an iPad app. So it might be worth forking out to list on Autotrader to get more people seeing your improved advert.
