Hi, Can anyone please give me some advise. I brought a Tiger E1 kit car on Ebay and spent good money as it was well written up with no faults and looked good.
Now I know you should always try a car out etc. but I did not - my I found many faults least of which the engine - a 2 litre Pinto has no power - my wife's 80 hp car leaves it standing.
I contacted guy within 2 hours to be told the car was fine and the problems are mine.

Question is, is there someone or a garage in the Midlands (near Wolverhampton or Stafford) I can take it to and get an independent assessment and report on it - the RAC & AA do not want to know about kit cars.

Thanks,
Dave

Thanks for this but it was a effectively a cash sale and all ebay can do is to terminate his account - not a lot of use or help to me.

Sounds normal for a Tiger honestly they're a pile of rubbish. Not sure there's much you can do except put it down to experience and try to pass it on to another mug. Legal wise you could try taking the seller to the small claims court but I doubt you'd succeed - Caveat emptor I'm afraid!

Where are you based?

I can recommend a few garages in the Newport and Stafford area to have a look at it or failing that why not bring it to a local meet and we will have a look at it and see if we can help in the first instance.

A 2.0L pinto should be at least 100hp so should be reasonably brisk. Just one question - what were the outside temps as my Caterham felt really slow last night when the outside temps were 27 degrees plus.

Why not do some simple checks - buy a compression tester - I have one so can bring it to a meet!

Also - have you jacked the car up and checked all the wheels spin freely and there are no sticking brakes?

Cheers
Paul

What would that achieve? Private sale, your opinion (and theirs if they agree with you) against seller. Throwing good money after bad ....IMHO.

Swallow your pride, save your money and get on with sorting it.

Oh, and never buy a car unseen or tested !
