Hi have been thinking of starting a car storage club near Leamington Spa next to M40.

Somewhere you can store your track car, kit car and trailer perhaps?
I might be able to offer some services like;

- Pressure washer
- Car ramp
- Battery charging
- Trade discounted car parts and consumables

I don't want it to be some high end polished floor heated storage, more an affordable farm building secure storage on quiet farm with access to subscription members to come and fix, polish and store cars. Something of a social atmosphere where you can come and chat to like minded people on a weekend or evening whilst you tinker with your race car or similar. I have accounts with car parts suppliers who delivery hourly to site.

Clearly I want to earn something from it too for offering the space. I think I can accommodate 20 cars indoors. Maybe more, but need some working area and a comfy sofa area........probably a toilet or access to a kitchen in time.

I was thinking of moving house and realised all the things l enjoy doing outside of work meant I needed a workshops space. Most houses I looked at had clauses stopping me having cars and trailers on the drive or didn't have the space, let alone the security!

Anyone interested? got any ideas to offer? please drop me a line.

its something of a commercial venture for me to explore.....its a farm so no £100k low slung super cars, more something for the working person who shares a passion for cars and motorsport. I run Hillclimb and Sprint cars myself.

I hope my post is inside the PHer's rules? its my first post I rejoined after being a pre-Haymarket PH'er.

Cheers John

I could be interested, although for more storage than working on a car etc. My Dad (who lives in the Cotswolds) and I (Coventry) have ran out of car storage, but like the idea of buying a classic to share. Sensible storage is the only thing stopping us.

Insurance is an issue.

Not for storage but for unqualified, uninsured people, working on cars, in your building and near other peoples cars.

Having started a fire accidentally, in a borrowed workshop, it's not a great experience.

That’s a very valid point.

However banning hot works and using controlled spaces it’s manageable. I am not after people carrying out ground up restoration but more maintenance and mechanical upgrades

I have a good qualification in risk assessments in critical environments so know how to play the insurance game.

It’s still an idea at this stage. I have 9,000 square feet of insured storage and workshop space mostly empty.

Is this still a thing?

I've just moved to Leamington and my car is still locked away a fair few miles away.
Would be very interested (cost dependent). Be even better if there's a few people around for a chit chat and more than happy to lend a hand.

Interests:
Dry
Secure
Somewhere to clean it after a drive
Somewhere to fix it when it needs it

Sounds perfect to me!

I'd be keen, if this becomes a reality.

I'm guessing this idea is dead but I would be very interested and I have a few colleagues in a similar position.

I wonder what a realistic cost would be?

What do people actually want and what would they pay ?

I have a reasonable amount of room at the back of my house (garaging for 8+, parking for 20+ cars) I just don't think the figures would stack up

Unfortunately that doesn't work when caravan / track car storage is year round.

I have seen a few Co. offering car storage but many require a 12 month contract presumably for this reason.
