We're having a trip to Scotland next month and want to break the drive up on the way home to Berkshire (6 hours) with an overnight stay, does anyone have any suggestions for a few hours to keep the family busy (18 yo and 4 yo) that isn't ridiculous money? It'll likely be on a Friday.

So far I've thought of the National Space Centre but haven't looked into it too far so over to you.

Thank you

On the very cheap side you have something like Cosford: https://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/cosford/

Free admission. (Parking fees)

But if you are on the M1 rather than the M6 you might not want to do that.

Space center isnt a bad shout, Leicester city center is pretty good for something to eat, drink and a spot of shopping now

York's a nice place to spend some time and has good museums - are the kids likely to be impressed by railways or Vikings?

Alternatively, wear them out with a walk round the city wall.
