Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster. Recently moved to the Worcester area and I'm trying to find a reputable garage/indy that can do MOTs and servicing work on my car (Abarth Punto SS). Used to do the basics myself, but the new house has a pretty sloped driveway so I'm much less enthusiastic about getting under there!

If anyone can recommend or point me in the direction of some decent places around Worcester/Pershore/Evesham, that would be massively appreciated.

Cheers!

One man band Sam Daffin SD Motor Repairs Pershore 555444. Was Allspeed with his dad Allan IIRC (who is still around for, as it were, fatherly advice when there's something difficult!).

Me & my partner have only used them for standard servicing our various generations of Jazz but he does dabble in classics & motorsport. As do several businesses on the trading estate.

He was recommended to us by a trucking-business-owner friend.

I've had a vague itch to have a Punto SS but never got around to scratching. How is it?

Really appreciate the recommendation, I'll give him a shout!

The Punto SS is great, had it nearly 8 years and it still puts a smile on my face when I get to drive it on empty roads. Speed wise, it's pretty nippy, enough to have fun and overtake on a whim, but not so fast that you could find yourself losing your licence without realising. Handling was originally a bit dull (thanks to some awful Pirelli P-Zero tyres), since swapping to Vredstein Sessantas it takes corners like it's on rails. Unfortunately, great handling means the comfort takes a hit; bumpy roads can be annoying and pot holes you need to actively avoid. Although you'll get a numb ass from long journeys, it still pulls a healthy 45mpg (from a recent 400 mile Lake District trip).

It's also been the most reliable car I've owned which is surprising for a FIAT! Aside from regular consumables and servicing, I've only had to replace a handful of things: top mounts, 2 wheel bearings, window motor, toe links - for a 10 year-old car, I honestly can't complain.

I'll probably be parting ways with the SS at some point next year since the girlfriend and I will need something slightly bigger (primarily for dogs). So if that itch does need scratching in the future... feel free to drop me a message smile

Cheers!
