Hey there
I've just converted a car to an electric powertrain and am in need of somewhere to trash it a bit and see how it takes full throttle for a decent amount of time. Being uninsured and not fully completed, there's no way I would do this on the public roads and i need to do it in daytime.
Can anyone suggest anywhere I can try asking, such as a disused airfield or sprints track?
We're in the midlands, just south of Birmingham, so around Stratford / Redditch / Warwick is ideal.
Thanks!
J

Main issue with curborough is the fact its a small sprint track so not ideal for full throttle for extended periods.

I was going to suggest the old RAF seighford near stafford, its been used for various driving experience events so possibly better for blasting the car down the runway full throttle

Wouldn’t a dyno be better suited?

I think it'll be useful as well, but we're keen to check out roll under steering and other dynamic stuff.

I've worked with Codemasters before recording sounds for a video game and we used Turweston Aerodrome, I imagine they paid a pretty penny to do so though... Also had to stop using the runway occasionally when planes were coming in from memory

If you have a spare £10k or so!

MIRA and Millbrook are both pretty reasonably priced all things considered. It will be easier to get a track permit for Millbrook.

You might have to do it via a Ltd company though. Not sure how easy it is as a private individual.

Pro drive test track in kenilworth maybe?

They do a lot of experience days there so you might be able to rent it…

You used to be able to rock up to Bruntingthorpe for this sort of thing in exchange for a few hundred quid. I reckon you'd probably need public liability insurance these days though!

They might be, hope they don't build them on the nature reserve I designed!

There is a lot of out of date sites on this thread - more's the pity as the options are ever decreasing

Many years ago I called Long Marston for a similar request as I was putting a hill climber on the road they simply said - find somewhere deserted and go for it - for free
